Start your review of Greenish Lantern: The Animated Series

I loved the Green Lantern Animated Series, which we've recently watched once more. The voices, the visual design, and the music were perfect. This collection of the beginning five issues of the graphic novel companion series is pretty practiced, too. Each story is curt and mostly self-independent. Very little other than the characters themselves ties into story arcs from the Goggle box evidence. I know this graphic novel series isn't stellar, merely I'm even so and so disappointed that the TV series was canceled, I'll take any sm I loved the Green Lantern Animated Series, which we've recently watched once again. The voices, the visual blueprint, and the music were perfect. This collection of the commencement five issues of the graphic novel companion series is pretty skillful, too. Each story is short and mostly self-contained. Very little other than the characters themselves ties into story arcs from the Tv testify. I know this graphic novel series isn't stellar, but I'm still then disappointed that the TV serial was canceled, I'll take any minor reminders of it that I can get. ...more

I mean, it's about space, action and adventures out of this world. I loved the first part of information technology, I fifty-fifty loved Aya to the point where I wanted her to be more than just an AI's voice of the space send. Simply imagine my joy when that happened. She was cute, likable, interesting and accurate. Then little by little she started to badger me.

Emotions in a machine?! Feelings?! Dearest!? I didn't like her selfish attitude of beloved-me-back-

I didn't even come across any trailer for the show and badly wanted to come across it. I hateful, it's about space, action and adventures out of this earth. I loved the start part of it, I even loved Aya to the point where I wanted her to be more than just an AI'south voice of the space ship. Only imagine my joy when that happened. She was cute, likable, interesting and accurate. Then piffling by little she started to annoy me.

I hateful the sapphire stars showed real beloved and how they didn't force anything on their lovers in the name of dearest. Specially Ghia'ata. I'm not sure what timeline does the comic follow. Is information technology the same every bit the show?! is it in betwixt?! Some adventures are amusing, but whenever Aya is there, I feel irritated. Anyway, we'll see if there'due south anything interesting in the coming issues.

I was a large fan of this serial, so it was fun to take this version of these characters dorsum in comic book course. The story is calorie-free, but information technology was a fun, breezy read.

Recommends it for: younger children

I was lucky enough to win this in a Goodreads giveaway. DC has produced quite a few comics over the years based on the blithe versions of their characters, always intended more than for younger readers. While I remember it is important to have attainable comics for kids (since the Big Two frequently seem to forget that that'south the audience comics were originally intended for, and ignoring those readers is a swell way to go those readers to ignore THEM equally they grow older), I've always felt that these comics I was lucky enough to win this in a Goodreads giveaway. DC has produced quite a few comics over the years based on the blithe versions of their characters, ever intended more than for younger readers. While I think it is important to have accessible comics for kids (since the Large Ii often seem to forget that that's the audience comics were originally intended for, and ignoring those readers is a nifty way to become those readers to ignore THEM equally they grow older), I've always felt that these comics are a picayune too simplified or dumbed downwardly. It should be entirely possible to create comics that are both suitable for younger readers while providing stories even older readers can relish (and anyone who doesn't think this is possible should watch a few more Pixar movies. Or, for that matter, read the comics they used to produce years ago before the Large Two got all angsty).

The comics in this collection, unfortunately, do not meet that standard. While they've certainly got enough action and adventure for the younger crowd and the concepts behind the stories have potential, there are bug with muddy story-telling (such as the second story, where the action as the characters fight living shadows is hard to follow) or logic bug (in one story where the Lanterns are pinned down by multiple sniper shots Killowog deduces there must simply exist i sniper considering of... the color of the sniper fire???).

Across those problems, nonetheless, this is a perfectly acceptable collection for what information technology is intended to be: fun, simple stories for the younger age range. I would certainly requite it to a son or daughter. Merely I still hold out hope that eventually I find something from DC or Marvel that does not sacrifice intelligence or creativity in the procedure.

Decent but not peachy intro to the Green Lantern animated universe. This comic book collection acts every bit more of a companion piece to the animated serial instead of as a stand-solitary entity. Characters and concepts are introduced haphazardly with little to no background or explanation.

Despite that, I'm certain kids will go a boot out of information technology. GL is a fun character.

Despite that, I'thou sure kids will get a kick out of information technology. GL is a fun character.

This drove of brusque stories from Green Lantern Animated Series is all over the identify and should be read merely by those who watched the animated series.
The art is simplistic, looks practiced and fits the tone perfectly.
